Frequently asked questions
How do I count words in a text?

It is an estimate based on about 200 words per minute. Speaking time uses about 130 words per minute.
Are spaces counted as characters?
The Characters count includes spaces and line breaks. Characters (no spaces) excludes them. Each visible character counts once, so an emoji or an accented letter counts as one character.

How are words counted?
Any group of characters separated by spaces or line breaks counts as one word. So “well-known” is one word, and an emoji on its own counts as a word.
